Multi-Vendor Project Management for Cross-Country Office Move and New Network Design and Build.
Challenge
A Los Angeles, California-based financial management firm was in the process of transitioning one of their internal departments to an independent business entity. As part of this separation, the firm sought an IT vendor that could provide comprehensive project management services for the design, installation and support of a new, independent network to be located in a new headquarters facility in Washington, DC.
The engagement included the following services:
Design and provision a highly scalable and robust network infrastructure capable of supporting a global financial organization
Transfer data from one network domain to an independent domain
Design network security in the context of the financial management sector and consider strict regulatory compliance
Serve as primary project manager over multiple sub-vendors, coordinating not only with IT-related vendors, but also construction vendors for the new Washington, DC facility
Provide ongoing network support and management upon completion of the new network infrastructure
Solution
To begin with, it was of utmost importance that Dataprise provide critical coordination between all vendors involved in the construction of the new facility as it related to implementation of the new network environment.
We assigned 2 project managers to manage and maintain consistent vendor communication and project alignment, including facilitating project-wide vendor meetings at the start and finish of each major project phase. As a result, both organizations were continually informed on the progress of the new facility and network, enabling the companies to confidently plan operating timelines.
To facilitate ongoing company operations during the transition, Dataprise configured secure real-time replication between the existing systems and newly installed systems. During the transition, all employees — from both organizations — were able to access critical data without compromising productivity. And security features, such as two-factor authentication, ensured compliance with financial industry regulations.
