Recent regulations implemented in New York are just the latest in a series of legislation aimed at forcing organizations to take a more proactive approach when it comes to securing their sensitive data. From mandatory regulations, such as 23 NYCRR Part 500, which was implemented in New York earlier this year, to voluntary recommendations, like the NIST security framework, the government has shown that they are stepping up their level of involvement.
