Dataprise, Inc., a Rockville-based information technology company, announced today that The Washington Business Journal named the firm one of its 50 “Best Places to Work in Greater Washington” for 2008, the second year in a row the company has made the list. The award recognizes “the excellent spirit and diverse characteristics of the many top companies across our region,” according to the publication.

“Dataprise has a dynamic corporate culture that fosters an environment where core values are shared by all employees, and this award recognizes that,” said David Eisner, Dataprise’s president & CEO. “The heart of our world-class customer service is our employees, and Dataprise’s focus continues to be on what is best for them.”

To be considered for “Best Places to Work in Greater Washington,” a company must first be nominated by an employee. Upon nomination, an independent research firm distributes online surveys to all of a company’s employees regarding objective questions about vacation, sick time, benefits, general work environment and other quality-of-life issues. A certain percentage of employees must complete the survey for the results to be considered statistically significant – as a medium-sized company, Dataprise required at least a 70 percent response rate.

Dataprise offers incentives that make employees’ lives easier and therefore help keep a focus on the tasks at hand. To illustrate these incentives, employees regularly participate in monthly social events such as happy hours and intramural events. In addition, Dataprise offers employees equity-based long-term incentives, holiday bonuses, years of service recognition (42″ flat-screen plasma televisions are awarded for 10 years of service), grocery deliveries on-site, an office game room complete with a Nintendo Wii, sofa and lounge area, a workout room, signed birthday cards from Eisner,  anniversary cards from the executive management team, employee of the month awards, a “kudos” distribution list which employees send to management whenever a Dataprise employee goes above and beyond.

A breakfast awards program to recognize the winners will be held on Friday, June 13 at the McLean Hilton hotel at 7:30 a.m., and winning companies will be profiled in the June 13 edition of The Washington Business Journal.
