About the Client

Created by the Georgia General Assembly in 1981 as an executive branch agency, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) is a statewide body established to build consensus and unity among the State’s diverse and interdependent criminal justice system components. CJCC responsibilities are to serve as the statewide clearinghouse for criminal justice information and research, develop criminal justice legislative and executive policy proposals, and serve in an advisory capacity to the governor on issues impacting the criminal justice system.

The Challenge

Although they were already working within a hybrid network environment, CJCC felt hindered and confined by the restrictive nature of the government cloud tenant they were using to run specific apps and wanted to make a change.

Most of CJCCs workloads still existed within their datacenter, and the cost of operating in a government tenant was significantly more than the commercial alternative.

  • Move additional on-prem workloads into the cloud.
  • A more flexible, cost-effective, and right-sized data center environment.
  • More powerful and recently developed threat protection technologies.
  • Improved disaster recovery and increased security.

The Solution

CJCC engaged Dataprise, a Gold Cloud Platform Microsoft Partner, to assist with their migration.

Using the Dataprise Systems Assessment Tool, they selected the best workloads for migration and right-sized them. Dataprise Azure Foundations made quick work of setting up CJCC’s commercial Azure tenant.

  • Transitioned from ADFS and DFS to Pass Through Authentication and Azure File Sync.
  • Implemented Advanced Threat Analytics and installed an ATA server along with other tools to monitor and respond to threats in their environment.
  • Implemented Azure Site Recovery for disaster recovery and Azure Backup for on-prem backup.

The Results Post Azure Migration: 40% Savings

Migrating and right-sizing these workloads resulted in a substantial 40% cost savings for CJCC.

They are so pleased with the increased productivity, cost savings, and improvements to their overall network architecture that they are planning a future engagement with Dataprise to migrate all of their remaining on-prem resources to Azure and to completely vacate their data center.
