Director, Service Delivery

Ian Bartels’ fascination with technology began at a young age, writing games and apps in Basic in elementary school on his 8088, and then designing web sites in his middle school years, earning some paid gigs at a time when web sites were a novel thing. Starting his first true IT job in high school for a local furniture company, he continued working as a support technician and network administrator through his college years.

After majoring in Political Science at Hobart College, Ian found himself right back in IT after graduation, working on Capitol Hill as a Network Administrator to satisfy his interests in politics and technology. After seeing how the sausage was made on the Hill, he concluded that he wanted to focus all of his energy on technology and began earning a variety of technical certifications to bone up while cutting his teeth as a consultant at multiple small MSPs, before finally finding his home at Dataprise in 2012, when he joined as a Network Consultant. After standing out for his ability to improve relationships, processes, and systems across a variety of clients and industries, he moved on to manage a group of Network Consultants as a Technical Services Manager. Continuing to educate himself through extensive ITIL and Agile training, Ian moved up the ranks at Dataprise and went from managing front-line technical staff, to managing the Service Delivery Managers as the Senior Manager of Managed Services, before being promoted to Director of Service Delivery.

Ian can be often found quoting his tech industry hero the late, great, Andy Grove, former CEO of Intel – “Accept that no matter where you go to work, you are not an employee - you are a business with one employee, you.” Other than business and technology, Ian enjoys sailing, snowboarding, and, most of all, raising his two children, Molly and Landon, with his wife, Tara.
