1. Tell us your story on how you got into technology?

I started working in technology last year here at Dataprise. Prior to this, I worked in higher education as an Executive Assistant. I felt like my skillset in that role was transferrable into the position of Project Coordinator here, so I applied on a whim. Luckily, Dataprise agreed with me and gave me the opportunity to start my career in tech!

2. Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

I did not know for certain that I wanted to work in technology, but I have known for a while that I would like to work within a Project Management Office (PMO). Being able to be come in to our PMO as a Project Coordinator has given me the opportunity to learn Project Management and technology from the ground up.

3. How long have you been with Dataprise?

I have been here since June 2022.

4. Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

As a Project Coordinator, my role largely consists of ensuring that all scheduling for our engineers on each project is managed effectively. Another key piece of my job is serving as the Project Manager for smaller projects that come into the PMO. I also handle various administrative tasks. No one day is like the other, which is what I like most about this role.

5. What advice would you give to women considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?

I would say that if it’s something you’ve considered, it is definitely worth going for it! I wish I had known more from a technical perspective coming into this role, as that does make it easier to communicate effectively with clients and understand what all is going on in your role. However, you don’t need to have a technical background to be successful, especially in more junior level roles.

6. Why do you think it’s important for more women to join the tech industry? How can the broader community support women in tech?

I think whenever we diversify our workforce more, we are creating a better experience for our employees and our clients. Having people with different backgrounds on the team allows us to relate in different ways to our clients and each other and bring additional perspectives to the table that may not have been considered previously.

7. What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?

For me, being able to connect with other women in the industry has been great.

8. What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?

I enjoy being able to work with different clients regularly and learning from my colleagues.

9. What is the best professional advice you’ve ever received?

To be proactive and remember that no job is too small.

10. Where do you see yourself going from here?

My next goals are to become a full-time Project Manager, complete the AZ-900, and complete my MBA.
