Dataprise Women in Technology: Meet Melanie

This month for our Women in Technology, we are spotlighting Melanie, one of our Senior Revenue Accountant! Read about her story and how she started in technology.

Tell us your story on how you got into technology.

I started as the Accounting Assistant with 360IT PARTNERS in June of 2018. We were acquired by Dataprise in October of 2024, and I started at the Senior Revenue Accountant in November of 2024.

Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

As soon as I received my college diploma, I instantly was nervous about what the rest of my life looked like, I had no idea what was next. No one really talked about what to do with an accounting degree outside of tax or audit accounting. Once I found the position with 360IT PARTNERS, I instantly knew there was so much to learn and so many opportunities within the tech industry.

How long have you been with Dataprise?

7 years -6.5 years with 360IT PARTNERS and 8 months with Dataprise!  

Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

My day to day can look very different. Some days I am focused on billing and reviewing contracts, talking with peers on different things. Once billing is complete for the month, then I review revenue, create different reports, and present the month’s revenue to ELT.

What advice would you give to women considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?

Never be afraid to ask questions, you never know what you may learn even if it is outside of your role and it helps to grow your thinking.

Why do you think it’s important for more women to join the tech industry? How can the broader community support women in tech?

Having the diversity in the tech industry helps with making strategic decisions, having the diverse perspectives, and having the unique experiences that each person brings.

What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?

Truly everything. The people that I work with are amazing. The work, although somewhat demanding at times, I truly love what I am doing. I have learned and grown so much.

What is the best professional advice you’ve ever received?

Being willing to go outside of your comfort zone.

Where do you see yourself going from here?

Keep growing my skillset and learning all that I can from others. I hope to help continue to build Dataprise into the best in class.
