This month for our Women in Technology, we are spotlighting Rebekah N., our PC Depot Team Lead! Read about her story and how she started in technology.

Tell us your story on how you got into technology.

My interest in technology began when my family got our first computer in the early 2000s. I would spend hours on it, playing games and exploring programs like MS Paint. As the computer started having issues, I learned how to fix it so I could keep using it. Eventually, we got more computers, and I continued to experiment and tinker with them. By the time I was in middle school, I knew I wanted to pursue something in technology, even though I wasn’t sure exactly what.

Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

I wouldn’t say I was born wanting to work in tech, but by middle school I knew that I wanted to do something within tech.

How long have you been with Dataprise?

I have been with Dataprise for a little under 11 months. My 1-year anniversary is next month in late June.

Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

As the team lead at PCDepot, I oversee the ticket queue, support my colleagues with device setups, and act as a primary point of contact for both internal teams at Dataprise and our clients when they require assistance from PCDepot. A typical day begins with arriving at HQ, reviewing emails from the previous evening, and checking in with my manager, Mark. I then assess the ticket queue to prioritize urgent tasks, assist my team with any questions or challenges, and handle asset deployments when necessary.

What advice would you give to women considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?

My biggest piece of advice is to not let yourself be intimidated by others who seem more experienced. Everyone starts somewhere. Speak up, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to contribute because your voice and perspective matter. I wish I had known earlier that imposter syndrome is very common, even among people who appear confident and accomplished. You’re not alone in feeling that way, and it doesn’t mean you don’t belong. Real growth happens when you face those moments and keep going.

Why do you think it’s important for more women to join the tech industry? How can the broader community support women in tech?

It’s important for more women to join the tech industry because diverse voices lead to better solutions. Women bring valuable perspectives and experiences that are essential to building inclusive technologies. Since women are also users of tech, they should have a seat at the table in creating it. The broader community can support women in tech by fostering inclusive environments, promoting mentorship opportunities, and actively challenging biases that limit access and advancement.

What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?

What I enjoy most about my current role is working with my team of engineers. I couldn’t ask for a more collaborative, supportive, and genuinely kind group of people. We stay productive, tackle challenges together, and still find time to build strong team connections

What is the best professional advice you’ve ever received?

The best professional advice I’ve ever received is to take up space and realize that you belong. If you know that you belong in a place and conduct yourself in that way, other people will realize that as well.

Where do you see yourself going from here?

I see myself graduating this fall with a degree in Computer Science and securing a software engineering role where I can apply what I’ve learned and continue developing as a professional.
