Marissa: Tell us your story on how you got into technology?

Adriana: As I was finishing up college, I started job hunting for an entry-level position in my local area. One of the companies that I had applied to happened to be in the tech industry. That company ended up hiring me and as time passed, I got more familiar with the nature of the business and its systems and processes. Years later, here I am, still in the technology industry with no plans on changing that!

Marissa: Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

Adriana: No, working in technology wasn’t necessarily part of the plan. I had a degree in Business, which gave me flexibility in what industry I wanted to be involved in. Technology is an increasingly growing and evolving industry, so I am glad that this is the path I chose.

Marissa: How long have you been with Dataprise?

Adriana: I’ve been with Dataprise for about 4 months; I started in March 2022.

Marissa: Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

Adriana: I am the Senior Business Analyst for the Service Transition team, who facilitates the onboarding of new Dataprise clients. In general, my role is to ensure my team is performing as efficiently as possible so we can give our clients a positive and satisfactory experience, especially for those new to Dataprise. A few of these tasks include facilitating assignments, overseeing our Onboarding Tracker, creating and analyzing metrics and pinpointing process inefficiencies, recommending improvements, and creating process documentation to implement. Every day is slightly different and I enjoy the variety of my position.

Marissa: What advice would you give to women considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?

Adriana: Go for it! Don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do. The tech industry has a lot of different career options to choose from – find one that works for you.

Marissa: Why do you think it’s important for more women to join the tech industry? How can the broader community support women in tech?

Adriana: Progress and improvement come from multiple and diverse perspectives; the Tech industry is no exception. Being that it is such an important aspect in our modern world, technology needs to have women involvement.

Marissa: What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?

Adriana: Right now, the best part of being a woman in the tech industry for me is getting to be here while the number of women in tech is still relatively low and being able to help lay a foundation of presence and be an example for the future women who want careers in tech in the years to come.

Marissa: What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?

Adriana: I really enjoy Dataprise’s openness to continuous improvement, from a day-to-day process level to employees’ career development/training. As a business analyst, being able to not only suggest improvements, but also be able to implement and see the positive impact it has, is fulfilling. My team is great too!

Marissa: What is the best professional advice you’ve ever received?

Adriana: Speak up before you burn out. Burn out is very real and an effort needs to be put into maintaining work/life balance. Having a balance overall will be better for you AND for the company.

Marissa: Where do you see yourself going from here?

Adriana: I see myself continuing to develop my BA skills and seeing what sparks my interest along the way.
