Marissa: Tell us your story on how you got into technology?

Alexandra: I’ve always had a curiosity about technology and the benefit it brings to our lives. As a 90’s kid, I was fortunate to experience the initial boom of handheld technology. I was overjoyed when I got my first cellphone– no games, no texting, no camera, no apps – I still thought it was the greatest thing ever. At 18 years old, I found myself working for a major mobile phone carrier. I saw first-hand the major advances in handheld technology over just a few short years. I found myself “geeking out” when a new device was slated to hit the market, studying up on the specs, and being genuinely excited to speak to customers about the features and benefits it offered. I loved getting feedback from customers about what they liked or didn’t like about a certain device, troubleshooting unusual technical issues, and helping customers find a solution to a problem they never knew could be solved with technology. After years of climbing the ranks in the mobile phone industry, I realized that I was truly passionate about technology, and decided to make the jump to the IT industry with Dataprise. I’ve learned so much in just the short amount of time I’ve been here – it’s truly rewarding to see solutions our come to fruition!

Marissa: Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

Alexandra: I didn’t start out wanting to work within technology, but I knew from a young age that technology would end up being a massive part of whatever career I found myself in.

Marissa: How long have you been with Dataprise?

Alexandra: I’ve been with Dataprise for 6 months.

Marissa: Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

Alexandra: I am an Account Manager. My main responsibilities are ensuring my clients are satisfied with their services, making sure their questions/ concerns/ requests are heard and fulfilled, and they know they are our first priority! My typical day to day responsibilities include meeting with clients to review their current services and propose additional solutions, acknowledging and responding to phone and email communication, and escalating urgent matters to the proper departments so they can diagnose and resolve issues quickly. I also manage the sales process from start to finish, from the initial conversations to the execution of a finalized agreement, including post-sale concerns such as invoicing or service related questions.

Marissa: What is one piece of advice you would give to young women looking to get into the technology field?

Alexandra: When I first started at Dataprise, I really had no experience in IT. I was very worried about learning everything and being able to keep up with the rest of my team, but what I realized isthat the technology industry is extremely fast-paced, and it’s constantly changing. Embrace the fact that you’re never going to know it all! Just be confident in what you bring to the table, ask tons of questions, and if you’re lucky enough to work at a company like Dataprise, lean on your peers when you need to!

Marissa: What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?

Alexandra: I wish I had known more about Cyber Security and how many different areas it taps into. I’ve always had an interest in the military, law enforcement, and intelligence fields, but I never realized how large of a part Cyber Security plays in these fields. In my current role, I work closely with some organizations in these fields, and it has motivated me to work more on my personal development as it relates to Cyber Security.

Marissa: What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?

Alexandra: I have the pleasure of working with other strong, like-minded women who are changing and revolutionizing the industry.

Marissa: What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?

Alexandra: The people!– I’m fortunate to be part of a phenomenal team of people who are passionate about what they do, and that passion is contagious!

Marissa: Where do you see yourself going from here?

Alexandra: I love working at Dataprise. I work for an amazing company with great people who really encourage personal development.I think I’d eventually like to pursue additional education within the IT industry and continue growing within the organization.
