Marissa: Tell us your story on how you got into technology?

Amanda: I came from a hospitality background working in sales for a large hotel chain. When the pandemic happened, it seemed that the hospitality industry would always be vulnerable to economic change. I began seeking a more stable industry in which I could apply my skills. The technology industry has grown exponentially over the years and so has the opportunity. When the Dataprise recruiting team reached out for an opportunity, it was truly a serendipitous moment. Now I have wonderful position as sales support doing what I know I can do in the dynamic exciting world of technology!

Marissa: Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

Amanda: I did not always know that I would be working in tech, but technology has become so ingrained with everyday life that I’ve always known that I would need to work with technology and understand the basics of it. Now that I’m working in the tech field, I see the background of how it all works and it is even more interesting than I originally imagined.

Marissa: How long have you been with Dataprise?

Amanda: I have been with Dataprise for 3 months and I see a bright future here!

Marissa: Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

Amanda: I am a coordinator for sales operations as well as strategic partnerships. For sales, I am responsible for ensuring that projects move from the signature stage to the implementation stage. My team coordinates things to ensure we have all details in place to execute projects and pass them on to our implementation team. For partnerships, I am responsible for managing our partnership requirements and making sure we fulfill important training that help maintain our partner benefits. Overall, I am here to facilitate processes that enhance efficiency for my team.

Marissa: What is one piece of advice you would give to young women looking to get into the technology field?

Amanda: For young women getting into the industry, just know that you don’t have to know everything. This industry is about continuous learning – you can start with one certification and build on that.

Marissa: What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?

Amanda: My advice for women getting into the technology field is that it’s never too late to change your career to tech. It’s a growing industry with more than enough room for all of us to thrive!

Marissa: What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?

Amanda: The best part of being a woman in tech is that I feel empowered to contribute to this new professional frontier, and I feel encouraged that my presence in the industry will create visibility for underrepresented communities.

Marissa: What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?

Amanda: The people are the best part of my job with Dataprise. Even in a remote environment I feel connected to my team.

Marissa: Where do you see yourself going from here?

Amanda: Considering how new I am to the industry, the only direction is up! I have so many pathways and opportunities open to me that all I have to do is decide what to pursue and then achieve it. I have no doubt that with more time and experience, I’ll hone in on my technology niche and become even more of an asset to my team!
