Marissa: Tell us your story on how you got into technology?

Iris: My first job was a research scientist in the advanced nanomaterial industry, but I didn’t really enjoy working in a lab performing experiments and dealing with chemicals. I missed the times when I was sitting in front of a computer focused on coding and mathematics. Therefore, I decided to begin learning different programming languages and worked towards becoming a developer in IT.

Marissa: Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

Iris: No, I originally went for a PhD program in Chemical Engineering and my goal was to become a professor and turn my research into industrial production.

Marissa: How long have you been with Dataprise?

Iris: I have been with Dataprise for 1 year and 5 months.

Marissa: Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

Iris: I am an application developer, and am responsible for developing enterprise and mission-critical software applications within Dataprise. I typically spend my day coding and working closely with my colleagues and clients to come up with a good design for a system, troubleshooting problems, and implementing winning solutions.

Marissa: What is one piece of advice you’d give to young women looking to get into the technology field?

Iris: Never stop learning. The technology industry is constantly changing, so keep learning to be earning!

Marissa: What advice would you give to a women considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?

Iris: I would advise women out there to focus on your interests and to always do your best. I wish I had considered getting into the tech field earlier.

Marissa: What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?

Iris: I think the best part is the opportunity for career growth, particularly for those looking for constant challenges in their work. Tech talents are always in high demand.

Marissa: What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?
