Women in Technology: Meet Kim

Marissa: Tell us your story on how you got into technology.

Kim: I was looking to start my career once I graduated from college, and I got lucky when Dataprise found me! When I interviewed, I thought Dataprise was a perfect fit once I saw their innovative technology headquarters. I like new “cool” environments and I could tell that this company was heading in the right direction towards the future.

Marissa: Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

Actually, no. But I am very fortunate that Dataprise found me. I have learned so much about IT since starting here and it has been a great experience.

Marissa: How long have you been with Dataprise?

4 years and 4 months

Marissa: Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

I am the Dataprise Office Manager and Marketing Coordinator. I oversee our reception staff at the Rockville headquarters as well as the connections to our other three offices. I also manage all forms of Dataprise social media, our internal events such as the holiday parties and Winter Gala, our swag store, and so much more! Each day is different and challenging, I love working here!

Marissa: What is one piece of advice you would give to young women looking to get into the technology field?

Challenge yourself! Learn as much as you can and maintain the “student mentality”. There is always something new to learn and areas to grow your career. Technology is a widespread industry and one that is great to get your foot in the door and grow from there.

Marissa: What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?

Shortly after I started, I learned that 15% of the Dataprise employees were women. We really get a chance to shine here, and we employ so many talented women! It is rewarding being a woman in a male-dominated field.

Marissa: What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?

I enjoy the people and the opportunity for growth. The environment is very fun and motivating!

Marissa: Where do you see yourself going from here?

I see myself continuing to learn more about marketing and growing my Marketing career.
