Marissa: Tell us your story about how you got into the IT field.

Kristy: Accidentally! I applied to Dataprise on a whim and got an entry-level receptionist position. I never anticipated that it would lead to a career in technology. After seeing the fast-paced environment of Dataprise and how an IT services organization works, I knew this is where I wanted to be. This industry is ever-changing, and it was very exciting to be a part of something special in the early years at Dataprise. It has been amazing to witness how the company has grown to where it is today.

Marissa: How did you get from that entry-level receptionist position to where you are now?

Kristy: Over the past 16 years, I’ve held many different positions at Dataprise and have offered to help where it’s needed. I’ve held administrative roles, management roles, account management positions, and now I work on our Professional Services team as a Project Fulfillment Manager. I helped create this team, which has been really exciting and rewarding, and it’s humbling to look back at how the team started and where we are today!

Marissa: What have been some keys to your success?

Kristy: I’ve learned that if you stick your neck out and take the initiative to pursue other roles or address a need, Dataprise will work with you to make it happen. It took a lot of hard work and dedication, but I’m proud of how much growth I’ve experienced! My managers have also been critical to my success. I have always had a good relationship with my managers who have made me feel heard and appreciated.

Marissa: Why do you stay at Dataprise?

Kristy: Hands down, the people! The people here are awesome. The collaboration that must happen across several teams takes a lot of communication and cooperation. Because of our team-oriented culture, everyone is always willing to work together to make sure the final outcome exceeds customer expectations.

Marissa: Can you share a little bit about your role as Project Fulfillment Manager and what a typical day for you is like?

Kristy: Our Professional Services team is responsible for providing high-level project management and strategic consulting to our clients. I own the intake of all projects from start to finish and work with a team of Project Managers and Project Engineers to ensure each project is completed successfully. I also collaborate regularly with many internal teams at Dataprise to ensure the projects are going smoothly and everyone is on the same page. My team is amazing to work with and working to keep them motivated and happy is an important part of my job. I really enjoy doing my part to make our team successful.

Marissa: What is one piece of advice you’d give to young women looking to get into the technology field?

Kristy: Don’t be afraid to speak your mind and share your ideas with your peers. As long as you are professional and have earned the respect of your team, you will always be heard!

Marissa: Why do you think it is so important to recruit and retain females in technology?

Kristy: I believe it is always important to have a diverse workplace. Bringing women into technology can add a soft touch that the industry may have lacked in the early years.
