Marissa: Tell us your story on how you got into technology?

Nancy: I went to work in 1997 for a large credit card company as a credit Analyst and moved to a finance role about a year later as a QA Analyst. When a director in the technology department (that I had been previously introduced to) reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in learning to transition into a Business Systems Analyst, I jumped at the chance! I spent the next 13 years with that company with my last role as a Lead Project Manager in the Compliance and QA department.

Marissa: Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

Nancy: I did not, I was just fortunate enough to be able to learn quickly and take on challenges with stride.

Marissa: How long have you been with Dataprise?

Nancy: I’ve been with Dataprise for the past 16 months as a Project Manager.

Marissa: Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

Nancy: As a Project Manager, most of my days are filled with meetings, planning, scheduling, and mitigating issues and overseeing large scale projects for our customers.

Marissa: What is one piece of advice you’d give to young women looking to get into the technology field?

Nancy: You may not always know specifically what your path is or what it will look like further down the road. Keep you mind open and always love what you do.

Marissa: What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?

Nancy: Never fear starting in a role that does not appear to be what you want as your career destination; you will find your niche with an open mind and patience.

Marissa: What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?

Nancy: The ability to realize that you can choose what you want to do, regardless of the perception that this is a male dominated industry.

Marissa: What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?

Nancy: The fact that management is open to suggestions and stands behind you.

Marissa: Where do you see yourself going from here?

Nancy: Into retirement! Although it will be several years out.
