Marissa: Tell us your story on how you got into technology?

Tessia: Throughout my undergrad I took multiple Information System Management courses which I truly enjoyed, and the tech industry started to catch my eye. The tech industry is constantly changing and evolving which is what I was looking for within a job when starting my career. I wanted a position where no two days would be the same; every day would be something new and different.

Marissa: Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

Tessia: Working in this industry was something I was interested in but did not think I would be a part of. I am very thankful to have the opportunity to grow within the industry and within my roles here at Dataprise. t was definitely a field that I always wanted to work in, but I had no idea how to get my foot in the door. The tech industry is steady in its opportunities but rapidly growing out of demand and necessity – I am so glad that I landed here.

Marissa: How long have you been with Dataprise?

Tessia: 2 Years, 8 months.

Marissa: Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

Tessia: Every day is a bit different. I manage and coordinate the recurring schedules of our Field Services team of Network Consultants, to ensure all contracted hours are fulfilled and our employees are fully utilized. Along with guaranteeing all unplanned and emergency requests are scheduled, I also partner with our outside vendors, and maintain multiple records to assist forecasting and planning within our team.

Marissa: What is one piece of advice you would give to young women looking to get into the technology field?

Tessia: Do not sell yourself short. You are capable of anything as long as you put your mind to it. The tech industry is still a male dominated field, but you have a voice, let it be heard.

Marissa: What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?

Tessia: There are so many wonderful opportunities within the industry that you may never have known existed. Do your research on different jobs that are available and out there. You will find one which best fits your interests!

Marissa: What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?

Tessia: Being an example to show that women can be a part of the industry too. I’m able to have a voice and show that women can grow, learn and have the same opportunities as our male counterparts – especially at Dataprise!

Marissa: What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?

Tessia: I enjoy being able to work with many different employees on a daily basis; it makes me feel accomplished each day. I enjoy the feeling of being a part of our Dataprise family.

Marissa: Where do you see yourself going from here?

Tessia: I would love to continue to develop, lead and create new opportunities for the Service Delivery group and for Dataprise.
