Marissa: Tell us your story on how you got into technology?

Tracy: I first heard about this job through a family member who also works here, and at the time I was looking for steady income so I thought I would give it a shot. And to be honest, my previous work experience was far different from anything I do here at Dataprise! But with an open mind, I took the leap and decided to commit to learning the field and I really love it.

Marissa: Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

Tracy: In high school I was in a program specifically designed for students interested in technology, however, I never saw myself pursuing a career in this field. It’s funny how life always to tends come full circle though – once I started working here, I slowly became aware of all the different opportunities and wide range of positions I could potentially take on while working in this field.

Marissa: How long have you been with Dataprise?

Tracy: I started with Wireless Watchdogs in March of 2019, and we joined the Dataprise family in mid-2021.

Marissa: Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

Tracy: A typical day for me as a Team Lead includes ensuring that my team has all their questions answered in order to perform their tasks and duties to the best of their abilities. I also maintain my own workload of escalated tickets and make the necessary outbound calls to carriers and to the client to ensure that their issue(s) have been resolved. Aside from the day-to-day tasks, I also troubleshoot devices with our end users and provide customer service to resolve their issues. The type of technical issues I work on include activations, troubleshooting, device enrollment into MDM and more.

Marissa: What is one piece of advice you would give to young women looking to get into the technology field?

Tracy: Just go for it! You may end up surprising yourself with how far you go. We often may find ourselves in a state of self-doubt or uncertainty but the only thing that can hold you back or push you forward is yourself.

Marissa: What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?

Tracy: The amount of patience it requires is definitely something that I wish I would have known. Over the years I have learned to adapt. It is a fast-paced industry and can become overwhelming, but the more patience you have and connections you make through networking, the easier it is to stay “in the loop” of it all.

Marissa: What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?

Tracy: The best part of being a woman in this industry is simply that – breaking barriers and proving stereotypes wrong is all the wonder. There is room for everyone and to be apart of something greater feels really good.

Marissa: What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?

Tracy: I enjoy working with the people here. I have created new bonds with my coworkers that come from all walks of life. Dataprise has opened more opportunities for me personally as well as I’ve been able to start contributing to a 401k plan, received an increase in pay, have the comfort of continuing to work from home, and I’m able to take get involved with the various support groups within the company so I can make sure my voice can and will be heard.

Marissa: Where do you see yourself going from here?

Tracy: I’m honestly not sure where I see myself going from here, and I think that’s a good thing! I’m fairly new in my Team Lead position (promoted from Customer Service Rep) so I want to focus my efforts on getting acclimated and then explore what’s next after I’ve dominated this position. At that point I think I’ll feel ready to take on a more and expand my horizons. I don’t see that being an issue at all here as there’s so much room to grow.
