Marissa: Tell us your story on how you got into technology?
Veronica: Technology can really empower you to grow and advance in your field and I was attracted to a company that focuses on providing excellent service to their employees and customers and thought I’d try my hand at lending my 15+ years of Accounting experience to the Dataprise team.
Marissa: Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?
Veronica: Not really. But in my previous roles, the IT department was always very closely connected to the Accounting office; we both worked towards creating new ways to support the organization and provide efficient results.
Marissa: How long have you been with Dataprise?
Veronica: Three months.
Marissa: Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?
Veronica: I’m the Accounting and Credit Manager and oversee the Accounts Receivable portion of our Accounting department while creating great services/processes within the billing department. A typical day is working hard to create a vision for the department that has a focus on accurate and efficient accounting related processes. I also build relationships with our clients while collecting revenue and approving credit.
Marissa: What is one piece of advice you would give to young women looking to get into the technology field?
Veronica: Seek within your heart on what you love to do. You never know if it could direct you to a field that you can embrace!
Marissa: What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?
Veronica: Do not be intimidated. Advocate for yourself!
Marissa: What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?
Veronica: The empowerment, the respect for your talent, the diversity, and the community.
Marissa: What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?
Veronica: The ability to bring great hospitality service to our company while securing revenue.
Marissa: Where do you see yourself going from here?
Veronica: I would love to expand my position within the Accounting, Operations, and Training teams to assist with fine-tuning process, service, cash flow, and accuracy.
